Amazon delivered in time for the weekend, my new " Practical Guide BPMN "by Jakob Freund, Bernd Rücker and Thomas Henninger . Within hours, I had devoured the book. It contains concentrated information on BPMN 1.2 and 2.0. The information shows the reader with many examples. As I have for some time with BPMN busy at first I thought that I, the first half of the book (Chapter 2 - The notation in the details) can easily skip. But when I read up quickly noticed that even for advanced process modelers incorporate many little tips and tricks from the authors' experiences, which can simplify your life. In particular, the innovations that will come with BPMN 2.0 explained rationally and critically considered. This provides a good introduction to BPMN 2.0, because the specification is not now quite so handy as to BPMN 1.2 times
It will also give a lot of best-practice approaches, such as individual objects can be used in BPMN and should. This is always the BPM Common Body of Knowledge as a BPM considered standard works.
I also like very much that the authors repeatedly emphasize that BPMN is not just for techies and programmers, but also for all "normal people"
. Here, the occasionally somewhat technical-sounding BPMN objects, concepts and rules umgemünzt again and again to the "real life" so that EVERYONE can understand and work with BPMN.
In the second part of the book, the BPMN camunda framework is described. Here, the processes to be modeled different levels are assigned. Each level is described in detail. This happens again with lots of tips and examples from practice. The descriptions are consistent and well-read. By dividing into the different levels is described as possibly one of the first rough process screen to process automation can occur.
Finally, some general tips for getting started in the theme of BPMN are given.
Conclusion: I find the book excellent. It exceeded my expectations and is really even better than the book by Bruce Silver " BPMN Method and Style . " Consistently explain all the problems with grip and supporting examples. The countless tips will help you every which deals with BPMN. The only minor drawback that I could see was that often the text and associated graphics on different pages, so you have to read a lot of back and forth leaves. Time was also the text before the graphic and then again to the graphic that is not entirely consistent, but in no way obscures the overall picture.
